On Sunday, the restaurant and café will be serving its coffee in coloured cups, so that people can signal who they might like to meet (at a 1.5-metre distance)

Zondag, located in Groningen’s Noorderplantsoen, has come up with a clever way to let people get to know each-other on Valentine’s day in the park, reports OOGTV. With the Coronavirus leading to people sitting at home, it can be hard to meet either friends or romantic interests whilst maintaining social distancing so this Sunday you can request either a blue or a pink cup at Zondag to signal who you might like to meet.
It’s called the ‘date-cup’, and Hans Moerkerk of Zondag says that the Noorderplantsoen is “the place to meet new people”. The cups are not only intended for people to meet the love of their lives, but also a fun way to break the ice and signal that you might like to strike up a conversation. “It can be for meeting a date, or a friend, or even a neighbour that you’ve wanted to chat to”, says Moerkerk.
Whilst Zondag currently plans to only serve coffee in pink or blue cups, “if lots of people request it, then we can maybe also introduce a rainbow cup, too”, says Moerkerk.
Zondag is open on Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 (take-away only).
