As reported by the Drachtster Courant, the traditional yearly Easter market is returning to the city of Drachten. From 09:00 on Easter Monday (22nd April), the city centre will be filled by huge numbers of stallholders.
Aside from the market, other activities on offer include kid’s entertainment and music. This year, music will be provided by the 50-strong shanty choir the Peijesjongers (from Drachten), and the blues pop duo Weima & van der Werf.
The market has not been organised through the gemeente, but by the Stichting Marktbeheer, who are also responsible for the weekly market in Drachten. The foundation held extra talks with shop owners and hospitality outlets, so that together they could create a huge event.
This year, the market will stretch from the Burgermeester Wuiteweg, through to the end of the Noorderbuurt.
