RTV Drenthe reports that the explosives were German, and a number of other small munitions were also found at the site. The soil analysis is being carried out in preparations for construction of a solar panel array at the airport.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists have already disposed of some of the munitions, and the two aerial bombs will be moved to De Haar military training grounds in Assen and destroyed in a controlled explosion on 13 March.
