On Tuesday morning, the elephant herd at the Wildlands park in Emmen welcomed their second calf in recent months.

The healthy male calf has been named Manoa, a name of Hebrew origins which means “peace” or “rest”. His mother is Ma Yay Yee, and Manoa is her third calf. Ma Yay Yee was also born at Emmen back in 1999.
Wildlands filmed the newborn calf as he was surrounded by the rest of the herd on Tuesday morning.
This is the second calf to join the Elephant Valley at Wildlands this year: another bull calf, named Mauk, was born in early April. The Emmen adventure park now has ten elephants: three adult cows, one adult bull, five young bulls and Manoa.
