Weeks of dry conditions in Friesland and high temperatures have prompted a wildfire warning in Friesland.

Certain areas of the province have gone so long without rain that a wildfire alert is expected to be issued in the coming days. The Leeuwarder Courant writes that the weather forecast does not predict any precipitation until Friday, 6 July at the earliest.
An alert is the highest level of the forest fire warning system. Nick Kits, a spokesperson for Veiligheidsregio Fryslân, says that risk of fire in Friesland are not as extreme as in the southwest of the Netherlands, “but it’s likely that we will scale up to an alert in the coming days because of the continued dry conditions.”
