by Thomas Ansell
As reported by the NOS, Dagblad van het Norden, and others the Dutch government has announced a raft of new measures to tackle the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak in the Netherlands.
All schools, restaurants, and cafe’s are to close from this evening until April 6. The school closure includes pre-schools (kinderopvangcentra), however some will remain open to care for children of people that work in ‘vital’ industries (see below list).
Other social activities also must shut, aside from cafe’s and restaurants, including sports clubs, sauna’s, sex-clubs; and coffee-shops. Various outlets have shown long queues outside of coffee-shops in various Dutch cities. Hotels may remain open.
All supermarkets remain open.
The Northern Times will provide further updates over the course of the coming days, including locally in the North.
