The White House Office of Public Engagement is inviting Americans living abroad, including those in the Netherlands, to participate in a survey aimed at understanding their unique concerns and challenges. The initiative is part of a broader effort to connect with and serve this important community.
The survey seeks to gather insights on various issues, including the financial restrictions many expatriates face. Due to increased compliance burdens, many US banks and investment brokers no longer accept American clients living overseas, a situation mirrored by some Dutch banks. Additionally, the survey aims to address concerns about citizenship-based taxation (FATCA), which requires all American citizens to file US taxes regardless of their residency.
The White House plans to use the feedback to engage with Americans abroad through newsletters and quarterly Zoom briefings. For more information on privacy and data security, participants are directed to WhiteHouse.gov/privacy.
Americans abroad are encouraged to take part in the survey and voice their concerns, helping shape future policies and outreach efforts.
