The ‘most experimental pop festival in the Northern Netherlands’ announces Dutch, British, Belgian and American bands for the July 2019 edition of the festival.
Translation by Thomas Ansell
The Frisian festival Welcome to The Village has announced the first names for its 2019 edition. Dutch electro-pop singer Thomas Azier, who cancelled his appearance at the 2018 festival due to recording his new album, will finally take the stage. Belgian noise-rock band RAKETKANON (Rocket Canon) will also perform, along with American post-punk group The Soft Moon and British indiepop band Husky Loops.
Azier’s new album ‘Stray’ has seen enthusiastic reviews, and has been well-received by crowds on his latest tour. Husky Loops look set for stardom, and have just launched their first EP, ‘Spool’. RAKETKANON are said to be producing a ‘dark dose of sludge’, whilst The Soft Moon belie their name with a blazing post-punk sound.
The first ‘super early bird’ tickets will be released this Friday at 10 a.m. This will be the seventh edition of Welcome to The Village festival, which will take place from 18 to 21 July at De Groene Ster in Leeuwarden.
