To be fair, they also thought it would be a white Christmas
Good news for those who love snow, and moderately good news for those that enjoy having their hopes dashed: the chance that there will be a covering of the white stuff in Drenthe and Groningen this week is increasing, according to meteorologists.
Eastern parts of both provinces are most likely to see snow; with the Dutch meteorological office expecting some rain and sleet on Wednesday. “But later in the day the precipitation intensity and with it the chance of snow from the east will increase,” says the Dagblad van het Noorden.
According to the weather agency, the question is whether the snow will remain on the ground: “especially in the eastern parts of the country there is a chance for snow fun tomorrow evening. A snow cover more than three centimeters thick could form along the eastern border.”
If you want to enjoy the snow, you’ll have to get to it quickly. On Thursday the (wet) snow will turn into rain again in many places. There is also a high chance of fog after Thursday.
