Dutch meteorological institute KNMI has issued a code yellow warning for Tuesday night in the northern provinces due to predicted thunderstorms and hail.
The weather front is expected to impact Friesland between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and code yellow is in effect in Groningen and Drenthe between 9 p.m. and midnight.
KNMI uses colour codes to indicate the severity of the weather conditions: green, yellow, orange and red. Code yellow is the lowest level warning.
Thunderstorms with wind gusts of up to 65 kilometers per hour and hail up to two centimeters in diameter are expected to develop on Tuesday afternoon in the west of the country.
The storms are forecast to move in a northeasterly direction over the course of the evening.
