Starting in September, students and employees at Zernike will have a new dining option: Wadapartja is opening a second location at the northern Groningen campus.

According to Groningen culinary guide De Smaak van Stad, the second location will open its doors inside the Van DoorenVeste, part of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, on the Zernikeplein.
Wadapartja is a casual dining restaurant and shop which opened its original location on the Gedempte Zuiderdiep three years ago. Founder Margreet Metting and co-owner Gezinus Winters will oversee the opening of a second branch of the popular eatery at Zernike, complete with outdoor seating and coffee provided by the Groningen-based Koffiestation.
Dagblad van het Noorden reports that the new Wadapartja location is part of a wider campaign by the Hanze: the applied sciences university expressed to their current catering partner, Eurest, to get more local companies involved in the food services at the campus.
Sikkom recently reported that FLFL, a falafel restaurant on the Oude Kijk in ‘t Jatstraat, will also be opening a Zernike location soon. They will set up shop at a food court inside the Kapteynborg, one of the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Science and Engineering buildings.
Similar to the Gedempte Zuiderdiep location, all items inside the new Wadapartja, from the seating to the plates, will be for sale to customers. Unlike the current location, the opening hours of the Zernike branch will be more limited: during the summer vacation and outside of normal class times, the restaurant in the north of the city will be closed.
