The ‘anonymous board member’ calls upcoming opponents to try and cancel the match
The club’s senior team is going through a bad season aside from the effects of the prankster. After 12 games, the club is at the bottom of the table, having conceded 99 goals whilst being unable to score a goal themselves. This puts VSV’31 at the bottom of the fifth class of Dutch football, as reported by the DVHN.
Strangely enough, these issues are being compounded by a mysterious new caller that has already telephoned opponents to say that the match has been canceled due to the poor quality of the pitch. The caller pretends to be a board member, but so far opponents have turned up every time.
Paradoxically, the caller may want to do a service to VSV’31. As soon as an opponent does not show up, a home club is automatically credited with three points, which could be the first few points of the season.
