On Monday, construction of a replica of the world-famous Rialto Bridge from Venice resumed in Assen. The bridge was originally built in Assen on 2 June, but had to be removed due to the TT international motor event. Following the conclusion of another major event, the DTM demo race, last weekend, the bridge can now return to the city.
The unique replica’s presence in the city is in connect with an exhibition at the Drents Museum, one of the most important museums in the north of the Netherlands: “Sprezzatura: Fifty years of Italian painting (1860-1910)” will be featured in the Drents Museum until 3 November, RTV Drenthe reports.
Selfie spot
Assembly inner city organization Vaart hopes that the bridge will become a hotspot for people looking for the perfect selfie backdrop. Lovers can also hang love locks on the bridge, just like in Venice.
