The Netherlands has rushed to bring forwards its vaccination programme
The first vaccinations of acute care workers in Groningen will start on Wednesday at the UMCG in the city, with the vaccines arriving early on Wednesday, under police escort at the hospital. Employees of the Intensive Care Unit, the Emergency Department and ambulance personnel are the first to be innocculated, reports the GIC.
Last weekend it became clear that 33,000 vaccines nationwide will be available for employees in acute care. The Northern Netherlands will receive 10.5 percent of those vaccines for the vaccination of personnel.
In each province, one hospital has been designated from which the healthcare workers are vaccinated. In Groningen this is the UMCG, in Friesland the Medical Center Leeuwarden and in Drenthe vaccinations are done from the Wilhelmina Hospital in Assen.
Non-acute care personnel can be vaccinated from January 15, which will take place at the MartiniPlaza in the city.
