A mixture of Dutch spring weather and the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown means that we’re all likely to be confined to our homes for another few weeks, but there’s reason to celebrate with a bevy of events on the way from the likes of City Central and Connect International.
How to find a job in the Netherlands- April 13, 17:30
This evening, Connect International will be presenting a talk by Sansan Deleon, who will take attendees through her job-seeking journey in the North. From tips about searching through to how to ace an interview, Sansan will be using her own experiences to help others! More information/sign-up available here.
Perceptions of WW2- April 21, 19:30
City Central and Studium Generale are teaming up to offer an evening of conversation between Frank van Vree, director of the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Lien de Jong, a Jewish war survivor and the main character of recent award-winning book The Cut Out Girl, and David Stroband, art historian and visual art teacher at Minerva Art Academy. The talk will consider how WW2 left its mark on the Netherlands in cultural, societal, and historical terms. More information/sign-up available here.
City Central’s Gezellig Games Night- April 23, 20:00
City Central’s games nights have developed a bit of a cult following during the lockdown(s), and this edition is to include a genuinely tricky Groningen-based quiz, and the artistic wonders of a doodle-off on Scribl.io! More information/sign-up is available here.
Tell Connect International your story! #NLThroughYourEyes
Connect International has recently launched its new project called #NLThroughYourEyes! Connect will publish stories and photos made by internationals which describe and illustrate expat’s lives in The Northern Netherlands (Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe).
