Professor, your mic is off!
The University of Groningen will be investing more than five million euros in improving online education, says the Rector Magnificus Cisca Wijmenga. With the Coronavirus pandemic continuing, a great deal of education will have to continue to be provided online. But the quality must be improved, reports RTV Noord.
Wijmenga says that online education is not yet at the desired level- though the move to online education was incredibly fast, quality has often lagged behind.
Now the focus has to be on improving the quality of education, says Wijmenga. She wants it to be less passive and more active: “for example, a chat session during lectures in which students can ask questions which the student assistant then passes on. We are currently in crisis mode, but after that you want to take digital to a new level.”
