With patients being transferred from other parts of the Netherlands, sometimes family members can get aggressive
The UMCG in Groningen is starting a pilot to see whether aggression from family members of patients in its Coronavirus ward can be prevented. The pilot will mean that a series of ‘UMCG hosts’ will accompany family members.
The project is mainly a response to family members of patients from other parts of the Netherlands. Several incidents have occurred in recent weeks, according to OOGTV.
A few incidents have allegedly recently took place, resulting from family members not understanding why their family member is being transferred to the UMCG in Groningen, and responding with aggression. Further issues have come from family members ignorance around obeying the Coronavirus regulations in the hospital. If the results of the pilot are good, tests may follow in other departments in the hospital.
