All educational activities with UMCG lecturers are also temporarily cancelled
Together with the University of Groningen, the UMCG hospital has decided to cancel all educational activities that include UMCG lecturers until April 4. Through these and other measures, the hospital is trying to keep the new COVID-19 Coronavirus at bay. Students have been informed via the University.
Where possible, online education will be used, says the UMCG. For individual and teacher-related education for small groups, the teacher or department will decide what goes ahead and what doesn’t.
The UMCG sees interns as employees of the UMCG and so the existing employee policy also applies to them.
Full-time internships within the Medicine, Dentistry and Movement Sciences programs will be examined on a case-by-case basis. Where possible, education will be offered online, otherwise it will be suspended. Part time internships will be suspended until 4 April, with no new internships to be started.
The UMCG previously announced ‘extraordinary measures’. People with mild symptoms may no longer visit patients. Meetings with more than thirty participants in the hospital are canceled. Visiting concerts and theater performances is no longer allowed for staff, according to a spokesperson.
