The Groninger Internet Courant reports that the board of the hospital is now seeking a successor for Aartsen, who has been head of the organisation since 2012. His tenure as chairperson of the Groningen hospital caps off over 20 years of service for Aartsen, who originally joined the hospital in 1997 as the Director of Policy.
The Supervisory Board paid tribute to the crucial contribution that Aartsen has made in his various roles: “Aartsen has not shied away from speaking out about matters that are important to him, including the changing landscape of care and competition in healthcare, as well as broader societal themes such as prevention [of future health issues], the earthquake problem in Groningen, and a smoke-free society.”
