The University of Groningen has been named the best all-around university in the Netherlands in the 2018 edition of the Keuzegids Masters. Groningen came in third place among technical universities nationwide.
Keuzegids publishes various editions throughout the year, and the Masters edition assesses and describes the master’s programmes available across the Netherlands.
More Top Programmes
The best scoring programmes are deemed “Top Programmes”. In total, 17 UG master programmes achieved that label: by comparison, in 2016, there were 10 Top Programmes at the university. Groningen also has 13 programmes that are the best of their kind (i.e. archaeology, theology) in the Netherlands, which is the same amount as last year.
“Great news”
Rector Elmer Sterken is proud of Groningen’s results. “Our faculty of Economics and Business is home to the very best research university master programme in the country. The research master Economics and Business scored 104 points. The Nanoscience master programme received 102 points, and that programme has consistently been in the top three in the Netherlands for six years.”
“Our Master Week will be happening soon, so this is great news”, Sterken says. The Master Week, during which the UG faculties organise a variety of information sessions about their master’s programmes, will take place between 19 and 23 March.
The Keuzegids provides a short description of every master programme in the Netherlands. The majority of the programmes are also given a quality assessment based on student feedback and input from the NVAO, the national accreditation entity for Dutch higher education.
