The 2019 edition of the Truckstar Festival in Assen attracted around 50,000 visitors, which was more than the previous year, according to RTV Drenthe. The TT Circuit played host to around 2,300 lorries and trucks, which came from such diverse locations as Ireland, Italy, Austria and Slovenia to be at the festival.
Stunts and races were held on the righthand side of the track, and the best truck in the Netherlands award was given by the jury to Nick Willigenburg’s Volvo FH on the infield. Willigenburg attributed the prize to ‘a week of cleaning, cleaning, cleaning by the whole staff of the company’.
The tarmac hit 80 degrees as the weekend kicked off and had to be kept cool by tankers spraying water. The arrival of competitors also provided a spectacle, with thousands of people watching the trucks arrive from the sides of and bridges over the A28. This year makred the 39th edition of the Truckstar Festival was taking place for the 39th time, and was organised through the newspaper of the same name for professional drivers.
