Thuisbezorgd.nl remains open; Dropper wants to help closed restaurants

Translated by Alexis Veenendaal

The cabinet decided yesterday that all food and beverage outlets should be closed, but the website Thuisbezorgd.nl remains open. Meanwhile, the delivery company Dropper wants to help out the restaurants with their services, as reported by the GIC.

Dropper and Fooddrop focus on the delivery of food and goods. The company wants to use the delivery network to help the affected restaurants, which are losing valuable turnover because of the recent closures. Both Dropper and Thuisbezorgd mean it is still possible to get take-away food in your home.

Because Dropper is open to restaurant deliveries, this could allow more work opportunities for employees in this sector.

Many delivery and takeaways are affiliated with Thuisbezorgd.nl. With the new government measures, they see no obstacles to continuing to provide services. According to the website (part of Takeaway.com) no country has yet decided that home delivery is no longer possible. Even in Italy, the subsidiary of Takeaway.com is still active.

The delivery site has taken measures. This means contactless delivery, which means that the order is left at the door. In this way, direct contact between customer and delivery person is avoided as much as possible.
