A further five had to be put down by vets due to their injuries

Translated by Thomas Ansell

As reported by the Leeuwarder Courant, mindless thugs broke into the Nordwin College in Buitenpost (Gemeente Achtkarspelen) during the night between Sunday and Monday morning.

The College specialises in agricultural and animal husbandry courses, and so has a number of live animals on site. Several of these were badly treated by the thugs, leaving two animals dead and another five having to be put down by vets due to their treatment.

The perpetrators of the vile incident entered the College’s premises and gained access to the animal stables. They then released a number of animals into the grounds including goats, horses, guinea pigs; chickens and pigeons. A number of the animals were abused by the thugs.

On Monday morning staff at the College found two dead animals. Chickens and pigeons were found loose in the fields near the College, and returned to their hutches.

Lenie Lap, a member of the LMT Nordwin College committee wrote that staff and students at the school are “shocked and sad”, following the break-in. The police are now undertaking research to find the thugs.
