Provinces in the south are reporting much larger infection rates
Translated by Thomas Ansell
Three new Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Province of Groningen since Saturday, reports the GIC. The new cases have now been confirmed by the RIVM, but are not yet updated on the GGD Groningen’s website.
With the three new positive tests, a total of 379 confirmed cases have been recorded in Groningen- seven more than a week earlier. The death-toll in the Province remains at 17.
The figures seem to suggest that the majority of new cases are in the City of Groningen, whilst one person in the Gemeente Het Hogeland seems to also be infected. It is possible that this person is the volunteer at the Seal Sanctuary in Pieterburen that was confirmed to have the virus over the weekend. The Zeehondencentrum has been shut as a preventative measure.
Across the Netherlands, more than 200 new confirmed cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours- with the majority being in the southern provinces of Limburg and Noord Brabant.
