There are approximately 50 locations in Groningen where you can get free menstrual products.
The initiative is run by the Armoedefonds (poverty aid fund), which says that 1 in 8 girls and women in the Netherlands can’t afford menstrual products. They aim for people not to miss school or exams because of period poverty. The Municipality of Groningen is also assisting in the campaign.
The 50 distribution points are spread out around the city in charity ships, clothing banks, and community centres among other locations.
On its website, the Armoedefonds says it wants to offer a wide variety of products that suit the needs and comfort of the person using them. “That is why we offer different types, sizes and brands of sanitary towels and tampons. Menstrual cups are also available,” the fund said.
There are 2,479 of these points spread throughout the Netherlands. You can see here where the various locations offering free menstrual products can be found.
