Big screens on the pitch will show iconic scenes from the club’s history
FC Groningen, which is suffering from a huge financial shortfall due to the cancellation of the Dutch football season, has turned the Euroborg stadium into a giant snack-bar.
Visitors can grab a drink and fried delight, then take their seat inside the 22,000-seat stadium. On the northern side of the stadium, existing catering outlets are now open to everyone. You can enjoy the bought fries, snacks and drinks in the stands while the screens show highlights from club history, says the club.
“We are trying to get the football experience, which FC supporters have been missing for so long, back somewhat,” the club says on its website.
The club indicates that people will be kept a meter and a half away from eachother, and that there are a limited number of places available. The snack bar is only open from Thursday to Sunday.
People aged 18 years and older will be served beer, and a typically Groninger eierbal can also be ordered.
