It is thought that the establishments allowed clients to move about freely inside
The Municipality of Groningen has closed another establishments this weekend, because they did not comply with Coronavirus measures. In total, four businesses have now had to close their doors in the city. One of them was even cleared out by enforcement officers- to make sure that they couldn’t simply re-open the next day.
It is likely that visitors were being allowed to move around in the establishments; they should have stayed in their seats. It is possible that people started dancing: several night-clubs have re-invented themselves as ‘bars’, with tables on the dancefloors, to get some income. The municipality does not want to disclose which outlets have been closed, GIC.nl reports.
According to a spokeswoman for the municipality, the time for warning is over, and establishments can now be closed immediately. In this way, the municipality hopes that catering entrepreneurs who have their affairs in order will not suffer from the those that flout the Coronavirus rules, during a second shutdown, for example.
The municipality of Groningen now has an entry bar for establishments at the weekend. Bars must not let anyone in from 01:30. It is possible that this entry bar will also apply during the KEI week, if it gets busy in the city center.
