The Telegraph (De Telegraaf)
The Telegraph refers to the Forum as ”an icon of international allure”, with historian Wierd Duk praising the architecture saying: “From a bird’s eye view, it is as if a giant spaceship, 45 meters high, has landed in the historic city center… All proportions seem lost. But on the ground, the Forum, with its smooth, crooked exterior, miraculously disappears from view. From the nearby Grote Markt, the heart of the city, the colossus hardly stands out”, he concludes that the building is “spectacular in every way.”
Trouw
The Dutch national newspaper calls the Forum “a pyramid of culture”, particularly praising the interiors, saying they have “a sea of light, an interconnection of various atmospheres on the ten floors, and a beautiful view.”
The Architect
Admiring the cultural aspect of the Forum, Marieke Giele says, ”Everyone can discover the various places on their journey through the building and be inspired” and concludes ”the result is like a large cultural department store, where everyone from the city is able to find their own place.”
AvroTros
Quite the unique building, AvrosTros Today considers it to be ”A construction project that is unparalleled.”
It is likely that international media will travel to Groningen to visit the Forum, so we at The Northern Times will keep you updated! The Forum is celebrating its opening with a 24-hour event. For more information, just visit the Forum’s website.
