In addition to musical acts from across all of Europe, the showcase festival features a large number of musicians from one county in particular each year. The Czech Republic and Slovakia were in the spotlight in 2019, and Swiss performers will be the special focus of the 2020 edition.
“Not only is Switzerland home to a very active and creative artistic scene, but the country also has the highest festival density in the world and a thriving record industry”, says Jean Zuber, who is a member of Swiss Music Export and is involved with the Eurosonic organisation this year.
The Groninger Internet Courant reports that Robert Meijerink says, “Switzerland truly sets itself apart through its cultural diversity and an extremely eclectic music scene which has really mixed things up in the past few years.”
Eurosonic Noorderslag will be held between 15 and 18 January 2020.
