Sun worshippers, rejoice: summery weather will continue across the northern provinces through at least the end of May.
Temperatures are projected to hit 26 degrees in Groningen on Thursday, and Friesland and Drenthe will likely hit a high of 24. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Friday, but temperatures will rise again to nearly the 30 degree mark over the weekend and early next week.
RTV Noord’s meteorologist Harma Boer says that the weekend will be especially warm and that it may get just slightly cooler on Monday, but it should heat up again on Tuesday and Wednesday. “Each new forecast shows something slightly different, so we don’t yet know just how hot it will get, but we know for sure that it will feel like summer.”
Buienradar forecasts that it should stay above 21 degrees in Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland for the rest of the month of May.
