Students in Leeuwarden can now study in the most luxurious spots in the city

NHL Stenden students will be able to study at the 4-star PostPlaza hotel, and the Oranje Hotel opposite the station

Translated by Thomas Ansell

NHL Stenden, the large Hogeschool with branches across the North (but its largest in Leeuwarden) has reached an agreement with the owners of both the Oranje Hotel and the PostPlaza hotel for their students to be able to study surrounded by luxury. As reported by the Omrop Fryslân.

Stenden sought out the agreement itself, and will pay five euros ‘rent’ for each work space. The hotels have somewhat lower occupancy at the moment, which has made space for the initiative.

PostPlaza Director Herman Schröder says: “it should be lovely, but we can only receive 30 students at a time [to maintain social distancing]”. The hotel does have some guests at the moment, who will use the PostPlaza’s grand hall for breakfast and dinner. Study spaces will be available between 11:00 and 17:00 accordingly.

Students must reserve their space online; and the study spots will be policed by a steward. Unfortunately students will not be able to order food and drink from the PostPlaza’s grand café, as the hospitality industry may not receive sit-in guests at the moment.
