There will be virtually no busses running in the province of Friesland on Thursday as the bus drivers go on strike for improved labour conditions.
The busses on the Wadden Islands, the so-called Opstapper busses, and lines 304 and 314 between Groningen and Drachten will have regular service on Thursday, but all other busses will remain in the depot. Train service in the region will be running normally.
The Leeuwarder Courant reports that the bus drivers are striking to draw attention to their heavy work load. Some drivers have to drive for long periods without enough time during breaks to go to the bathroom.
RTV Drenthe reports that four Arriva bus lines from Leeuwarden, Drachten and Heerenveen to Assen will not be operating on Thursday.
