Business owners across the city centre of Groningen are decking out their store fronts as part of a Groningen City Club campaign.

Groningen shops are decking out their windows with orange and royal-themed scenes in anticipation of the king and queen’s visit on King’s Day, 27 April.

The Groningen City Club, an association for local retailers, is behind the campaign to effectively paint the town orange: GCC hopes that the festive displays will catch the national media’s eye when they descend on the city next week for the king’s visit.

Many shops are featuring photos of past visits to the city by members of the royal family which have been made available through the Groningen Archive.
