At least one person was injured in a stabbing in Groningen’s city centre on Friday just after noon. Police have since released images of the main suspect and have launched a public appeal for information.
In a statement, local police said they received a report of a stabbing incident in Oude Ebbingestraat in Groningen at around 12:15. At least one person was injured and emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene.
It appears the incident may be connected to a robbery at a shop selling second-hand products.
Late on Friday afternoon, police published CCTV images showing a man who had most of his face covered running into the store while brandishing a knife.
Police are now asking members of the public if they recognise the suspect. People are urged not to approach the man themselves and to call the emergency number 112 if they spot him. Other information can be passed on anonymously through the 0800-7000 non-emergency line.
