Groningen police apprehended a suspect while responding to a stabbing near the Hereweg and Barestraat just before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

On Twitter, the police wrote that one victim was transported to the hospital, and the extent of his injuries was unknown. OOG TV reports that the police also said that they apprehended a suspect at the scene. Multiple ambulances and police units responded to the call.

An investigation into the incident has been opened in order to determine if the victim and suspect had any sort of relationship and why the stabbing may have occurred. The Barestraat is located in the Rivierenbuurt neighbourhood of Groningen, which is south of the train station off of the Hereweg, and the stabbing took place near the Jumper pet store.
