An autopsy will be carried out in the Frisian harbour city of Harlingen on the dead sperm whale that was spotted in the waters off North Holland on Tuesday.

The Dutch Ministry of Waterways towed the dead whale to Harlingen where an autopsy will be carried out by researchers from the University of Utrecht.
Omrop Fryslân reports that the weakened sperm whale was first spotted off the coast of Den Helder on Monday, but the animal was dead by the end of the day.
