Stormy weather saw the Eemslift Hendrika nearly capsize due to its cargo shifting position
The crew of a cargo ship from the province of Groningen was rescued by a Norwegian coastguard helicopter on Monday, with the rescue caught on video.
All twelve crew members of the cargo ship Eemslift Hendrika (with its home port in Delfzijl) have been rescued by the Norwegian coast guard. The ship ran into problems on Monday: it started to list after its cargo shifted position due to high winds, GIC.nl reports
All crew members were taken off board by helicopter. A spokesperson for Amasus Shipping in Delfzijl, the co-owner of the ship, says that all crew members are doing well after their ordeal.
The first eight crew members were already disembarked on Monday afternoon; the last four followed on Monday evening. The last crewman jumped overboard and was plucked from the water by coastguard.
