The best female soccer player in the world may indeed come from the province of Drenthe in the north of the Netherlands. Vivanne Miedema, from the town of Hoogeveen in southern Drenthe, has been nominated for the ‘Golden Ball’. Miedema not only plays in the Dutch women’s team, but also with Arsenal.
As reported by RTV Drenthe, Vivianne Miedema is one of the nominees for the Golden Ball, organizer France Football announced. The young woman from Hoogeveen is one of the twenty nominees.
The all-time top scorer of the Dutch national team reached the World Cup final with the Lionesses and became champion of England with her club Arsenal.
In the championship year with Arsenal, the 23-year-old Miedema scored 22 goals in twenty matches. This season, too, the striker is back on track, as Miedema already scored 10 times in six official games.
In addition to Miedema, Lieke Martens and Sari van Veenendaal have also been nominated.
