This morning Groningen was covered in a thin layer of snow.
The Royal Dutch Weather Insititute (KNMI) had already warned people about snow and icy conditions on Monday and has put out a code yellow which went into effect Tuesday at 02:00 am. This means the roads, bicycle lanes, and footpaths are likely to be slippery and people outside are being advised to remain cautious.

While it was still snowing this morning, the snowfall is not expected to become any more than a thin layer of 2 to 5 cm. This is a little more than the KNMI’s prediction, which was about 1 to 3 cm.
The code yellow is also in effect in Drenthe, Friesland, and Overijssel.
