The quakes were at a depth of 3KM
There was a minor earthquake in the Province of Groningen this morning at around 09:55. The quake had a magnitude of 1.4 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was at Garsthuizen (Gemeente Lopersum).
Several people report that they have felt the tremor, reports the Groninger Internet Courant.
There was also a tremor this morning at the small town Appingedam, also in the North: it had a magnitude of 0.8 on the Richter scale.
Both are available to see on the Dutch meteorological office’s (KNMI) website, which maps in real-time the various earthquakes in the Netherlands. Both are marked as ‘induced’: they sit in areas of significant gas-drilling.
