Internationals who want to skate: come to the Grote Markt in Groningen!
Those who want to learn to skate or want to experience a long-running part of Dutch culture should head to the Grote Markt in Groningen, where they can skate in the open air during a “Winter Festival.”
The Groninger Winterfestival on the Grote Markt in Stad has been open since Friday 22 November. It was pleasantly busy on the ice rink on Saturday afternoon.
This year the ice rink is not covered for the first time. The organisation has provided more entertainment around the track, such as a merry-go-round and a number of smaller fairground attractions.
On the ice you can participate in a curling competition this year and skating lessons will be organised. The Groninger Winterfestival is open until 5 January.
