The Dutch meteorological institute KNMI is forecasting severe thunderstorms and heavy rains in the north on Tuesday afternoon.

The weather should remain sunny and warm for the coming hours, but a code yellow will be in effect in the provinces of Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland starting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop by the late afternoon with localised heavy rainfall and potential flooding. The storms could also bring hail and strong gusts of wind. The weather front should move out of the region over the course of the evening.
