The ‘Sexy Farmers’ calendar is looking for new models. The calendar aims to raise awareness of the agricultural sector, and is looking for models for its 2020 edition.
As reported by RTV Drenthe, the ‘sexy farmers calendar’ is now looking for models for its 2020 edition. Drents boerin Annemiek Koekoek, from Tynaarlo, is in the 2019 edition, and told RTV Drenthe that ‘it has changed my life’. Those interested can apply through the BoerenKalender (for men) website, or the BoerinnenKalender website (for women).
Koekoek participated in the calendar to draw attention to the agricultural sector. ‘After my participation I saw that the number of followers I had on social media had grown a lot, and I got questions asked from all corners of the country on, for example, how often you milk cows, and other thinks’. Koekoek was inspired to start her own video blog, to highlight Dutch farming.
‘I am concerned that the whole of the Netherlands should know that milk really comes from a cow, and I hope to promote the [farming] sector in this way’, she said. According to Koekoek, participation is contingent on the model liking their image, and the impact of the calendar is larger than she had expected. ‘People suddenly know you from the farmer’s calendar, so you sometimes come to parties where people recognise you, saying “hey, you’re miss June” for example.’
The idea came to founder Stef Bloo in 2011, having read a newspaper article about a similar calendar that had been successful in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The 2019 calendar costs around 15 Euros, and can be purchased through various retailers.
