Severe storms caused flash flooding in the provinces of Drenthe and Friesland on Sunday evening.
Business and homes in Schoonebeek, Borger, Drouwen and Eeserveen in Drenthe were plagued by leaks and flooding. Dagblad van het Noorden writes that a snack bar in the town of Schoonebeek had to be evacuated when a leak sprung above the fryer. One fire department in the area reported that basements were flooded in Drouwen and Borger.
RTV Drenthe reports that strong winds and heavy rains led to downed trees in the town of Eeserveen. Borger also experienced significant hail. The Leeuwarder Courant reports that a restaurant in the Frisian town of Lemmer – Beachclub Lemmer – incurred water damage caused by passing storms.
