FC Groningen lost 2-0 to SC Heerenveen on Sunday in the ‘Derby of the North’
SC Heerenveen’s Mitchell Van Bergen has had to return Arjen Robben’s shirt following yesterday’s match between the two clubs, reports the GIC. At full time the 21-year old midfielder made a beeline to the FC Bayern and FC Groningen legend to ask to swap shirts. Robben had appeared on the pitch for the first time in six months, following an injury lay-off.
Unfortunately, following the press secretary of SC Heerenveen then came into the dressing room and asked Van Bergen to return the shirt, because it had already been donated to charity on Robben’s behalf.
SC Heerenveen won 2-0 with a penalty in the 71st minute scored by Henk Veerman, and an 86th minute goal from Tibor Halilović. The defeat means that FC Groningen sit sixth in the Eredivisie table, with Heerenveen in tenth. Positions 4-7 (usually) play-off for a Europa League qualifying slot.
