The University of Groningen (RUG) has removed the light poles with security cameras on the Broerplein.
The cameras and extra lights were installed in May last year after the Academy Building and the University Library had been repeatedly defaced with pro-Palestine slogans.
Student parties in the University Council and Groningen Student Union had later called for their removal, saying students were feeling like the university was spying on them.
