The former Forum Groningen library is to be ‘topped up’
The University of Groningen (RUG) has received permission from the municipality to renovate the former Forum Groningen library. The building will be the new headquarters of the Faculty of Law, reports the GIC.
The adaptation of the building was controversial according to two organisations that are committed to architectural heritage: Bond Heemschut Groningen and Friends of the City.
But the University newspaper reports today that the Municipal Executive has given permission because, according to the Executive, it is also of great value for the city center that an organization such as the law faculty can be established there.
Also in the Groningen city council, a majority of the council members have no objection to the “topping up” if the legal faculty remains connected to the city center.
