Up to 1000 euros could be won by people under 24 in two categories

As reported by the Omrop Fryslân, two institutions in Leeuwarden have combined to create the ‘Citizen Climate Adaption Award’: a competition for people under 24. Entrants have to come up with initiatives to answer one of two leading questions: ‘the climate-adaptive city’, and ‘building a climate-proof Netherlands’. Entries are open until December 10, for individuals and groups of up to four.
‘The climate-adaptive city’ is a competition for young people between 15 and 18 years old, who can enter a creative proposition to answer the questions of both heat-stress and water pressure in cities. The proposition can take the form of a written entry, a film, or model- or ‘any other creative solution’.
‘Building a climate-proof Netherlands’ is for people in the age category 19 to 24- with similar encouragement for ‘creative entries’ and propositions.
On Saturday 23 January 2021 the prizes will be awarded in Leeuwarden, with 500 euros up for grabs in the younger prize, and 1000 euros for the older prize. The ‘Citizen Climate Adaption Award’ will be part of a bigger day programme around climate adaption that will include a visit from former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
