Fans of the legendary rock band The Rolling Stones will have a chance to visit a special pop-up store in Groningen from October 20 to November 18, the Groninger Internet Courant reports. The store, located at the Grote Markt, is opened by Universal Music to celebrate the release of the band’s latest album, Hackney Diamonds.
Merchandise, memorabilia and more
The pop-up store will offer not only the new album and other Stones-related merchandise, but also live performances and a photo exhibition. The new outlet will be inaugurated by music expert Leo Blokhuis, and a street artist will create a special pavement design from the store to the Groninger Museum.
The museum is currently hosting the Rolling Stones exhibition Unzipped, which showcases the band’s history and memorabilia. The exhibition is also the reason why the pop-up store is coming to Groningen, as it is the only city in the Netherlands to have such a store. Visitors can win or buy a signed copy of the album that is displayed in the museum.
The pop-up store will also feature a stage where various bands will perform from October 20 to November 18. Additionally, visitors can enjoy 200 unique photos of The Rolling Stones, including some from their first photoshoot ever and their famous concert at the Kurhaus in 1964.
Celebrating band’s history and influence
The store will also be decorated with special Stones-themed wallpaper designed by illustrator Typex. Customers can take photos with a car similar to the one in the video of the Stones’ single Angry, or in one of the photobooths with a realistic Stones backdrop.
The Rolling Stones are one of the most successful and influential rock bands of all time. They have sold over 200 million records worldwide and have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band is still touring and recording today, and their new album, “Hackney Diamonds,” is their first studio album in over a decade.
The pop-up store will open on October 20 at 1:00 p.m. and will remain open until November 18.
