The man had visited a carnival in Tilburg
As reported by the Dagblad van het Noorden, a man from Dalen in Drenthe has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 Coronavirus. He suffered from health problems having attended the carnival in Tilburg.
Mayor Bert Bouwmeester reported the news on Sunday afternoon, during a press conference.
The patient’s partner was also tested, and it is likely that the results will be announced later today. The man has flu-like symptoms and is currently under quarantine at home, it is not known is his wife is symptomatic.
It currently being investigated with whom the man has been in contact in recent days. Mayor Bouwmeester advises people to be alert to their own health and to contact their doctor by telephone when in doubt. According to him, there are no reasons to cancel events in the municipality of Coevorden.
Separately on Monday another positive case was confirmed in Helmond (Eindhoven). The patient had previously travelled to Northern Italy.
